Spring Fundraiser 2017
5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Ecotrust, 721 NW 9th Ave #200, Portland, OR 97209
This year's Spring Fundraiser, "The Green Affair," highlights sustainability and growth at our school. Join us at the Ecotrust Building on March 4, 2017, for a night of fun entertainment, delicious food, and philanthropy! The evening begins at 5:00 p.m. with a cocktail party and a silent auction with over 100 packages from local businesses. The seated dinner and show will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include comedy by our emcee, Sharon Lacey; a rousing live auction with auctioneer, Steve Dorsey; and a great performance by the Junebugs, who are sure to get you out on the dance floor toward the end of the evening. We hope you can take this opportunity to support our school, connect with other GIS families, and have a great evening.
Consider wearing something GREEN: This could be a dress, tie or accessories in the color green, or perhaps something vintage, made of sustainable fabric, or reused or recycled materials. Have fun!
Tickets are available now! follow the link below to purchase singe tickets, couple tickets (that share a bidder number), and teacher sponsorship tickets.
We have some wonderful auction items and packages available this year from a list of GIS preferred vendors! View the catalog online, bid at the event, or from home! Winners may pick up silent auction items at the event, or they will be available for pick up at the school, if you are an online bidder and cannot attend the event.
Can't attend the event, but want to give in some way? We have options to share your generosity through the purchase of raffle tickets or a teacher sponsorship:
Though we invite all of our teachers to enjoy the spring fundraiser, this does carry a heavy cost. Please help us defray this cost and boost our net fundraising results by sponsoring a teacher to attend this event.
One raffle ticket entitles you to one chance to win an amazing culinary tour throughout Portland! Highlighting the city's most renowned Restaurateurs, Bruce Carey and Joe Rogers, your progressive dinner for four (4) will start at clarklewis for cocktails and appetizers, then move on to entrées and wine at Saucebox. From there, the group will enjoy dessert and wine at 23Hoyt and end with late-night snacks and a nightcap at Bluehour. This is truly an amazing way to experience these renowned restaurants. You're certain to have an unforgettable evening.
No need to worry about parking or designated drivers; Herr Peters will chauffeur the lucky winners throughout the evening, providing excellent door to door service.
Heads and Tails
The Heads and Tails Game will be played at the beginning of the live auction. You may purchase up to three chances to take home the cash prize! You will receive a necklace for every chance you purchase. The cost is $10 per chance; up to 3 chances per person.
Everyone stands up and the auctioneer asks participants to choose whether they wish to be “heads” (indicated by putting their hands on their head) or “tails” (indicated by putting their hands on their rear end).
The auctioneer tosses the coin, and the result announced: “Heads!” or “Tails!” All those who did not select that choice take off one necklace and, if they have no more necklaces, sit down. This continues until we have one “WINNER!!” The cash prize is 50% of all Heads and Tails necklace sales.
This year we are bringing back live trivia at the Spring Fundraiser. Compete with your table against other tables in the room for a chance to win cold hard cash! Trivia questions will be divided into three categories: Round 1: Pop Culture; Round 2: Being Green and Round 3: Wildcard.
Please sign up at the event at your table. It is $20 per couple, per round or $10 per person, per round. The winning table will take home 50% of the pot.

She performs across the USA and Canada and has been to Iraq twice to entertain our troops. She just returned from her fourth comedy tour of Africa, where she performed for Ugandan audiences in two of their tribal languages.

Auctioneer: Steve Dorsey
With twenty-plus years of experience as a professional auctioneer, Steve Dorsey of srdorsey auctioneering continues to build his expertise and love of the auction. He got his start in 1988 with Pacific Northwest–based Silver Auctions in the collector car auction business. In addition to being an auctioneer of wholesale and collector cars and motorcycles, he and his srdorsey auctioneering crew are the premier auctioneering team on Portland's fundraising circuit. From private grade schools to the University of Oregon Ducks, they have helped nonprofits raise tens of millions of dollars throughout the state of Oregon.
Steve has been fortunate in his career to have been invited to auctioneer at Monterey Car Week as well as the prestigious Manheim Highline Auction, where he regularly auctioneers alongside some of his best colleagues in the industry. His work takes him throughout the Pacific Northwest and California, as well as Nevada, New York, and even Canada.
Live Music: The Junebugs
The Junebugs are a dynamic group of musicians based in the Pacific Northwest and dedicated to sweet tunes and good times. The eclectic taste of this group ranges from turn-of-the-century Americana to modern hip-hop, all with a strong emphasis on vocal harmony.
