I lived in Illinois my entire life until I moved to the beautiful state of Oregon in January. As I grew up I was involved in a variety of sports, but towards the end of my time in High School I acquired a passion for running. I took that passion and “ran” with it by attending Illinois State University as a walk-on student athlete for the Cross Country and Track & Field team. At the end of my sophomore year, I earned myself a scholarship for scoring points at the conference meet in the 3,000m Steeplechase. I am still chasing my dreams today by being a member of the Bowerman Track Club Elite Team, training at the Nike World Headquarters around some of the fastest runners in the world.
While at Illinois State, I studied Physical Education and was able to experience a dual language school when I student taught. I am so excited that I have the opportunity as the Sport Teacher at GIS to inspire, support, and encourage students to become life-long movers, find their passions, and chase after their own dreams!
