Alexandra Weidler

Grade School Assistant Teacher

I was born in the deep South of Germany right next to the border of Switzerland. I graduated in Business Administration with a German and an American master's degree. After pursuing a career as a financial analyst at IBM for 11 years, I started working for Daimler (Mercedes-Benz cars) in the budget controlling department. In 2019 my family moved from Stuttgart, Germany to Portland due to a job assignment of my husband.

I have two teenage boys that are nearly grown up. Throughout their whole school life I supported and tutored them thereby discovering how much joy and passion I have in teaching kids. That's why I was seeking a way to expand my support to other kids as well.

I started volunteering for GIS in spring 2021 and enjoyed every day so far. It was a very rewarding experience because there is nothing more honest than the direct feedback of children. I'm very happy and thrilled to be part of the GIS community again in the upcoming school year.

In my free time I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities, especially hiking, cycling, and skiing as well as discovering beautiful Oregon and the rest of the United States.
