Brandon Archer is an applied linguist and foreign language instructor from Portland, Oregon.
In 2006, Brandon was awarded the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange scholarship and spent his junior year of high school in Aachen, Germany. This experience would prove to be life-changing, as it inspired him to continue learning and teaching languages. In addition to English and German, Brandon has studied French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
Brandon is a two-time alumnus of Portland State, having earned bachelor’s degrees in English and German, as well as a master’s in TESOL (ESL/Applied Linguistics). Before joining the kindergarten team at GIS, he taught in a variety of contexts, including private language schools in China and and an English-immersion kindergarten in South Korea.
More recently, Brandon has taught second-year German at Portland State, adult ESL classes in Portland, and tutored academic writing in Portland State’s Intensive English Language Program. Brandon has also frequently worked with the Goethe Institut as program assistant in their German-immersion PASCH summer camp for high-school students.
