Christina Glatz

4th Grade Teacher, German Track

My name is Christina and I am from a small town near Graz in Austria. I attended high school with the music track and later decided to study Italian and English in the teacher training program at the Karl-Franzens Universität in Graz. From then on, my love for languages, culture and teaching was sparked. I seized every opportunity to live in a different country and to immerse myself in a new culture, starting with my Erasmus semester in Bologna, Italy. Later, I used the two-month summer breaks to work as an aupair in Oxford; as a teacher assistant in a language school in Sicily; and in tourism in South Tyrol. These experiences abroad helped me grow in both my personal and professional life.

I most recently taught at an Austrian middle school, which positively shaped my path as a teacher. This is when I started teaching German as a second language. I have always been passionate about bilingualism and cross-cultural competencies and exchange, and therefore decided to fulfill my dream of working as a teacher in the U.S. I am highly excited and motivated to join the GIS community and am thankful for this great opportunity.

In my free time I love to spend time in the outdoors, both on my road bike or in the mountains. Hiking, climbing and skiing help me to get my inner peace. I cannot wait to explore the beautiful nature in Oregon. I also love to sing and play the guitar and the piano.
