Early Learning Music Teacher

Status: Part-time/Non-Exempt/Academic Year

Reports to: Early Learning Director

Position description:

The German International School of Portland has an immediate opening for a dynamic part-time (27.5% FTE) music educator to lead its German Track Early Learning music classes. This job has the potential to expand with other duties. This teacher will instruct classroom music once a week to our 2s through Kindergarten classes. In this role, you will also collaborate with other music staff to plan Open Sing and Holiday events throughout the school year.

Preferred qualifications:

● German language fluency.

● A degree in music education or equivalent experience.

● Familiar with Orff/Kodaly methods of instruction.

● Willingness to work collaboratively to create units that work within our school’s IB (International Baccalaureate) framework. Previous IB knowledge is a plus!

● Possesses a growth mindset and is authentically approachable.

● Strong organizational skills.

● Able to thrive working in a team environment.

● Ability to pass a criminal background check.

● Current certification in First Aid, CPR & Food Handler's License or willing to become certified prior to school year starting.

Working Conditions:

● Academic year position.

● Able to lift 25-50 pounds multiple times a day.
