I was born and raised in Bayreuth in northern Bavaria, Germany.
After attending the Gymnasium Fränkische Schweiz, my family and I moved to Boston where I received my high school diploma. During my time in the U.S., I took courses in early childhood development and volunteered in preschools. I knew early on that I would love to pursue a career which involves languages and working with children.
Back in Germany, I obtained my degree in Speech and Language Pathology. For 10 years I worked in private practices, schools, preschools, and early intervention centers with kids from 1-12 years of age, specializing in the field of multilingualism.
Working closely with preschools and schools, teaching in single and group settings, I developed individual plans to enhance and support language acquisition.
After moving to Portland, I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to teach the 2nd grade here at GIS. I love working with the kids and being able to implement my knowledge of language development.
Growing up in a multilingual environment is an incredible enrichment for the children here and will benefit them in many ways throughout their lives.
I’m beyond excited to be teaching and helping my students transition smoothly into the next grade level. I will always give my very best to build an empathetic, safe, and fun learning environment for my students.
