I grew up in a rural town in Montana with a population of about 1,900 people. I attended Montana State University in Bozeman, MT where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and spent my free time exploring the outdoors. From hiking and fly fishing in the summer, to skiing and ice skating in the winter, I wanted to experience everything Bozeman and the surrounding wilderness had to offer. Upon graduating, I became a substitute teacher and worked part time as a paraeducator in a special education Pre-K classroom. Bozeman is also where I met my wife Bailey and where we got our dog Camper, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

From Bozeman, my wife and I moved to Spokane, Washington where we lived for 3 years. While in Spokane, I worked as a Behavior Technician for Caravel Autism Health, and then as the Education Specialist at KSPS PBS, the local PBS station. In this role, I worked to provide students and families in Spokane’s highest needs communities with free learning opportunities and resources. I managed after school programs, summer camps, and family workshops, all centered around PBS KIDS content with the goal of bridging educational gaps in the region. I am passionate about providing students with a safe, fun, and welcoming learning environment that gives everyone, no matter their background or ability level, the chance to thrive.

My wife and I moved to Portland for her to pursue a career in interior design and because we fell in love with the beauty of the PNW. I plan on spending my free time hiking through Forest Park, taking weekend trips to the coast, and getting to know all of the wonderful people and places in our new home. I am so excited to join the GIS family and to help this wonderful school community continue to learn and grow.
