Physical Education

Sport 体育

The vision of the Physical Education program here at German International School is to inspire and prepare children to be lifelong movers.

Students learn the importance of being active while participating in a variety of activities, games, and sports. In addition to understanding the importance of being active, students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to live active lifestyles. In PE class students also have opportunities to develop social skills such as communication, good sportsmanship, self-responsibility, cooperation, respect toward others, and having an open mindset.

In Preschool and Kindergarten students learn how to move their bodies, follow rules, and use different equipment while participating in a wide variety of games, obstacle courses, and fun activities.

In First and Second grades we learn locomotor movements like running, skipping, galloping, jumping, and hopping as well as manipulative skills like rolling, tossing, throwing, catching, kicking, dribbling, and striking. Students will also spend time moving their bodies doing gymnastics, yoga, and obstacle courses.

In Third through Fifth grades students make their way through lots of different units including a variety of sports like basketball, soccer, tennis, badminton and track & field, focusing on team building and fitness.
