Denise Neumerkel

Preschool Teacher Assistant, German Track

My name is Denise and I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I am the first person in my family to be born in the United States, with parents hailing from Germany and Russia! I was very lucky to grow up in a multicultural household and learned both English and German as a child. For as long as I’ve been able to work, I have worked with children; I started as a camp counselor and worked up to a teacher for theatre classes before attending the University of Northern Colorado, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in musical theatre. I then had the privilege of working as a director and music director for young children’s theatre productions in the San Diego area. In 2019, I was offered a spot in an actor’s residency program in New York City. During my time in New York, I began teaching private voice lessons and rediscovered a passion for teaching and working with young students. I feel so fortunate to become a part of an environment where I get to work with children once again! Outside of my work, I am an avid traveler and knitter, and take any chance I can to see live theatre performances.
