Emma Eakins

Kindergarten Assistant Teacher, German Track

I grew up in a small town called Paradise, California which is about an hour north of Sacramento. While living there I took two years of German during my high school years and constantly found myself wanting to find a way to put it to good use. I started my education career as a kindergarten classroom aide at a Waldorf-inspired school in 2016 where I almost instantly realized my passion for working with children. In November of 2018 my family, along with most of my town, lost our home in the Camp Fire, which sparked our move up to Hillsboro, Oregon, where we have been ever since. Since moving here I have worked in childcare as a preschool teacher and have loved every moment of getting to grow my experience and knowledge. I often find that I don't just learn something from my fellow coworkers, but from the children I work with as well.

During my free time I love getting the opportunities to explore all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer and I am constantly looking for new suggestions of where to go. I also enjoy baking, curling up with a good book, and trying to turn everything into a Harry Potter or Star Wars reference. I'm so happy to be a part of the GIS team and look forward to inspiring young minds to constantly exploring the unknown.
