Erin Watters

Ms. Watters was born in Arizona but raised as a global citizen having traveled to and lived in various cultures throughout her childhood. In high school she had the opportunity to attend Kusel Gymnasium for a year as an exchange student where she was immersed in German through a family homestay. It was here she also learned ballroom dancing and helped out as a farm hand on a dairy farm after school.

After 20 years working in business administration and management, she returned to Portland State University for studies in conflict resolution and German, and received an MA in TESOL in 2014. Since then Ms. Watters has taught language and learning skills to students of all ages, from preschool to senior citizens from a multitude of cultures across 10 countries. She loves the sense of wonder that young children have and challenges herself to bring that form of inquiry into every learning environment. She is excited to be supporting deep and meaningful learning with the community at GIS.

When not teaching, Ms. Watters enjoys reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and learning new languages and cultures.
