Tell me more about the GIS Fast Track Program

If you wish your child knew another language, our Fast Track program is a wonderful opportunity to make it happen!

Since the 2022 school year, GIS has offered Fast Track programs for German and Chinese language tracks. You might have heard of it but are wondering what precisely the Fast Track program is.

While some of our students start to learn German/Chinese before they attend elementary school, others start learning it in Kindergarten. Motivated students entering grades 1 through 3 with little to no German/Chinese skills can still join GIS through our Fast Track program. It is designed as a one-year accelerated program that embeds students in a language immersion classroom with individual or small group pull-out sessions to offer intensive language support.

While your student is already learning a lot of the target language in their immersion classroom, in our Fast Track sessions, we build an important foundation for this newly acquired knowledge. We focus on everyday skills and conversations, as well as building a rich vocabulary through relevant and hands-on learning opportunities. Students make connections to their life outside of school and experience a fun learning environment.

The Fast Track program is helping students to become successful learners in their target language.

We see a lot of progress in this year's Fast Track students, thanks to the Fast Track and classroom teachers, who work together to ensure each Fast Track student gets the individual support in the target language they need.
