Green Team at GIS

SOLVE's Green Team at GIS

Once a month SOLVE’s Green Team joins the 4th and 5th grade students to learn about our local watersheds and how they help keep our water clean.  We will get our hands dirty when we head to the creek in the Fall to remove invasive species such as English ivy, Himalayan blackberry, and a few others.  As a Green Team member we will learn about what a healthy watershed looks like and work to improve our own creek.

Plans For Our Own Green Team

In the spring we will be planting much needed native plants to the GIS creek; which will help improve the water quality as well as provide habitat for native wildlife.  One of our last meeting will be the Westside Green Team Summit, were school can give presentations on their progress with the SOLVE’s Green Team.  This is an amazing opportunity that will provide our students with real life hands-on learning!
