I was born in Kiel, Germany right on the shore of the Baltic Sea. In 2002 I graduated from the University of Mainz with a PhD in Russian Literature and completed a business administration certificate at the Management and Business Academy GmbH in Mainz. From there I worked across Eastern Europe and Central Asia as a consultant to financial institutions in the fields of small business lending and risk management.
After moving to Portland with my husband and daughter in 2014, I returned to my philological roots and started teaching the adult conversation class at GIS. I love being able to work in an international environment and find the exchange with colleagues and students from different cultural backgrounds highly inspiring.
In my free time, I like to explore the beautiful Oregon coast and go on nature hikes with my family. During the rainy season we love to cook with friends, read and enjoy jam sessions with me playing the flute and my daughter the piano.
