Lydia Turner

Twos Extended Care Teacher

Although Portland has captured my heart, I am originally from Washington, north of Seattle. I learned German from my mother, but branched out in high school and took 4 years of Chinese. I returned to studying German in college, and graduated in May of 2024 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in International Relations from Willamette University, and a minor in English. I also competed in NCAA Division 3 athletics for Willamette as a member of the swim team. I feel right at home at GIS with familiarity in both language tracks, and am always looking to improve my skills. I got started in early learning by volunteering in community summer camps as a teenager, as well as babysitting for family. I have previously worked with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. I strive to foster a classroom environment that embraces empathy, kindness, and connection with one another. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, and swimming.
