I have loved growing up here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest as the third of six children. I am a big animal lover and am always rescuing small creatures, like the time I trapped a colony of feral cats and found them barn homes. I take care of my own feline fur babies as well as a few aquariums with fish and frogs that keep me busy. My other interests are connecting with nature, reading a cozy novel, clogging, crafting, practicing the violin, researching my genealogy, art, sewing, nutrition, fitness, and cooking healthy international meals. My mom is Hungarian, so I love making recipes like paprikás csirke. I may not be a full blooded German but a DNA test tells me that I am 45 percent Germanic, so I am happy to be a part of the culture of my ancestors here at GIS!
My adventures have taken me to BYU where I received my bachelor of science in Marriage, Family and Human Development with a focus on Family Life Education. While there I interned at a Family Center that educated parents and helped mothers at a drug rehab. I took a break from school to travel abroad for 18 months to Madrid, Spain, where I served in my church and studied the Spanish language. I am now pursuing a Masters in Education.
I have always had an interest in working with kids. I started out working with infants/wobblers and loved my experience. I traded changing 50 diapers a day to training children’s brains as a cognitive skills trainer. I have also worked in the Beaverton School District as an assistant in Special Ed and at an OES summer camp with ELL 8th graders. I enjoyed it all but I am excited to be returning for another year to work at one of my favorite places, the German International School!
