Samuel Sobel

I have spent my whole life growing up in New York City except for the year my family moved to Melbourne, Australia when I was six and, later, when attending college in upstate New York. I grew up speaking German at home with my family and have visited Germany many times to see family and study abroad in Freiburg im Breisgau. In school I studied biology and environmental studies with a minor in anthropology and have a strong interest in sustainable development, learning about cultures around the world, and sharing my passion for the sciences with others. Growing up I visited my family in Portland every summer and holiday season so Portland already felt like a second home by the time I moved here. I am very excited to build a future here. Outside of school I enjoy reading, exploring new places to eat, and rock climbing. I am excited to join the GIS community!
