Science Fair Season

Science Fair Season

Science fair season here at GIS will start soon, and while many students and families are excited, I know how some families dread the idea. Still, I would like to encourage you to give it a try.

In my opinion often the simplest projects are the most fascinating ones. Why not take a look around you and start investigating something you wondered about for a long time?

When we asked students last year to research common household items and how they were invented we learned fascinating things from how light bulbs work to how a waffle maker inspired the first Nike shoe sole.

A science fair project is one of the best learning experiences a student can undertake. Many of the attributes and characteristics we are focusing on with our transition to IB are essential to the success of a long term project.

Not convinced, yet?

We will have more information in the coming weeks and make sure to save the date for our very own science night on April 9th where we will exhibit GIS science fair projects and have fun hands-on science experiences for the whole family.
