Having moved from Shanghai to the States, I bring a diverse media, translation, and language education background. I got my bachelor’s degree in International Journalism and had previously studied in Hong Kong for media & communication. Eventually, I earned my Master’s degree in Shanghai. During this time, I focused more of my energy on contributing to language education. I’ve taught English to children in Shanghai and now I am teaching Chinese to children in the US!
I am always amazed by the insight our younger generation has. My favorite wedding gift came from one of my 5-year-old students--she gave me her most cherished ruby ring ( a toy version of course) It is the same kind of goodness from a young spirit that brought me to GIS after moving to Portland. A chance conversation with my neighbor and her daughter reminded me of how rewarding teaching is. When it comes to being kind to the world, children are our teachers as much as they are students.
Aside from teaching, I enjoy reading mystery novels, doing yoga and meditation, and traveling. I have become very competitive in playing games with my husband. Our cat, Apple, enjoys being our audience!
