Beyond the academic structure of the regular school day, Extended Care provides students with valuable opportunities to learn in a less structured setting. Crucially, we recognize the needs of our families whose parents work past 3 p.m. By offering a safe and caring environment, we ensure that students are looked after, allowing parents to fulfill their work commitments with peace of mind. This service not only benefits the parents, but also creates a sense of security and routine for students, contributing to their overall well being.
At the heart of our Extended Care program is a dedicated focus on helping students develop essential social-emotional skills. Through interactive games, activities, and group discussions, we guide students in understanding and managing their emotions, building resilience, and fostering positive relationships. These skills are crucial for their personal growth and serve them well in the future.
For our upper elementary students, the program goes a step further by providing academic support. Our experienced staff members are committed to assisting students with their homework, offering additional explanations when needed, and creating an environment where learning is both enjoyable and effective.
Our Extended Care after-school program is a fundamental part of GIS’s commitment to providing a comprehensive educational experience. By building community, supporting working parents, and focusing on social-emotional and academic growth, GIS is shaping well-rounded individuals prepared for success in both their academic and personal lives.
