Laternlein #15: Celebrating Community, Planning Ahead at GIS

A Note from the North Pole

Santa’s elves have reported a small collection of items lingering in the Front Lobby Lost & Found. Families are encouraged to take a look before winter break, as any remaining items will be packed up afterward. This applies to Middle School students as well.

Winter Camp Line Up Out Now

We know you’re excited for Winter Break, but we’re excited for the winter camp line up when school resumes January 5! Check them out and be sure to get enrolled early before spots fill up!

Share the Joy of GIS

Grandparents Week returns March 16–20, offering families a special opportunity to invite grandparents and special guests into the life of the school. A highlight of the week will be the Science Fair on March 18, where students will proudly share their learning and curiosity.

As you spend time with loved ones over the holidays, we encourage you to extend the invitation early and help us make this spring celebration one to remember.

Got Pretzel?

Has your car been pretzeled? If so, please send Bettina a note sharing where the pretzel has traveled with you or your family. We love following along with the journey and keeping the tradition going.

Summer Camp Interest Form

While the holidays are just around the corner, planning for Summer Camp is already underway at GIS. To help us design programming that best meets the interests of our students and families, we ask parents to take a moment to complete the short interest survey.

Your feedback plays an important role in shaping a fun, engaging summer experience.

Hot Lunch Program

Did you know that GIS offers a hot lunch program three days per week? Families can sign up through My Hot Lunchbox to order individual meals or set up a recurring order for the semester.

Please note that recurring orders and subscriptions reset in the new year, so be sure to renew before January.

Next semester’s lineup includes:

GIS Wetlands Restoration Project

Thank you to all families who previously expressed interest in volunteering for the GIS Wetlands Restoration Project. Earlier this year, we requested support in connection with a specific grant application that was ultimately not awarded.

While we were disappointed not to receive this funding, we are still moving forward with the project and will be sharing next steps soon. Community involvement will continue to be essential, so please don’t put those gardening gloves away just yet.
