Laying the foundation for confident, capable learners.
At GIS, preschool is more than preparation for kindergarten. It is the beginning of a comprehensive, immersive education that supports both academic and personal development.

Learning through purposeful play
Play is central to how young children learn, and at GIS, it’s intentionally structured to support cognitive, emotional, and social growth. Our preschoolers engage in both guided and independent play that encourages exploration, decision making and collaboration.
Through hands-on inquiry, whether studying seasons, insects or water, students build early academic skills while developing empathy, problem solving, and perseverance. These experiences are aligned with the IB PYP approach and are intentionally designed to support each child’s natural curiosity.
The value of mixed-age learning
GIS preschool classrooms are composed of mixed-age groups of three and four year olds. This structure fosters strong peer learning, leadership and communication skills. Younger children benefit from older role models, while older students build confidence and empathy through mentorship and shared experiences.
We guide children to express themselves respectfully, listen to others and navigate social interactions with fairness. These early interpersonal skills become the building blocks of lifelong self advocacy and collaboration.
Immersive language exposure
Language acquisition is integrated into daily routines and activities. Whether enrolled in the German or the Mandarin Chinese track, preschool students are immersed with the target language through songs, stories, games, movement and conversation, all led by native-speaking educators.
This early and consistent exposure supports natural language development, strengthens cognitive flexibility, and builds cultural awareness from a young age. Research consistently shows that early bilingualism supports long term academic achievement, social emotional skills, and cross cultural understanding.
