A Letter from The Board of Directors
Hello and welcome to a new school year at GIS! We’re thrilled to see our community back together and settling in for what promises to be an inspiring year ahead. This fall marks an exciting milestone; for the first time in many years, we welcome a new Head of School, Bettina Gregg. On behalf of the Board, we’re energized by the possibilities Bettina brings and confident she will help elevate our programs to new heights. We warmly invite you to join us at our upcoming Member Meeting on September 23rd, where Bettina will share her vision for GIS and the Board will provide updates on recent accomplishments and future initiatives.
For those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Derek Lin. I have three young kids at the school and this will be my third year on the Board. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as President and to have the support of my fellow Board members. I joined the Board as a way to do my small part in helping GIS be the best school we can be. I want to acknowledge the incredible accomplishments we have achieved under our past President Karen Keene, and who will continue to serve on the Board in her newly renewed term.
From the very first day our family visited GIS, we felt a distinctive energy and vibrancy radiating through the halls. An atmosphere that immediately drew us in and one I’m sure you are all familiar with. And the heart of this energy is our exceptional teaching staff, whose talent and dedication from the foundation of everything we do. Building on that foundation is our active and uplifting community which amplifies our programs and enriches our journey as caring parents. Together our people and programs are matched by outstanding facilities, now spanning three campuses and enabling our students to thrive in inspiring environments. This powerful combination of staff, community, and facilities has propelled GIS to become one of the fastest growing private schools in the area. As both a parent and Board member, I feel truly fortunate to be part of this remarkable moment in our school’s history. With Bettina now as the Head of School, we’re only just getting started. We look forward to an amazing year ahead and an even brighter future for GIS.
Kind regards,
Derek Lin
